Pixel Waves is a series of contemporary artworks conceived through the language of mosaic and developed in dialogue with the world of superyachts.

The series originates from a body of work created for the 46-metre superyacht BIG WAVE, where the movement, energy and fluidity of the sea became the starting point for an exploration of abstract waves. For the Monaco Yacht Show, this visual language is reimagined as a series of autonomous compositions conceived specifically for sophisticated marine environments, where art, architecture, material and light exist in continuous dialogue.

At first encounter, the works appear to be governed by order: geometric fields of gold and white establish a rhythm of horizontal and diagonal lines, creating a measured architectural structure. Against this order, the wave intervenes. Blue and turquoise forms move across and beyond the grid, fragmenting its geometry and introducing a sense of movement, spontaneity and controlled disruption.

This tension gives the series its title: Pixel Waves.

The pixel is the fundamental unit of the digital image and one of the defining visual languages of our time. As artificial intelligence and digital technologies increasingly transform the way images are generated, reproduced and experienced, these works propose a return to the physical fragment.

Here, the pixel is material.

Each individual tessera of glass or ceramic possesses its own colour, depth, surface, reflection and relationship to light. Some are regular and precisely aligned; others become fractured, irregular or deliberately displaced. Together, these fragments form an image that cannot be reduced to its individual parts. The work emerges through accumulation, touch and material transformation.

Mosaic is among the oldest artistic techniques in human history. Yet in Pixel Waves, it is not employed as a reference to the past, nor as a merely decorative or functional surface. The mosaic becomes the artwork itself.

Glass and ceramic are treated as artistic matter: their luminosity, texture, opacity, translucency and capacity to reflect the changing light of a yacht environment become fundamental elements of the composition. The material is not simply supporting an image; it is responsible for creating it.

This is particularly significant within the superyacht context. Yachts are environments defined by movement, light, craftsmanship and an exceptional attention to material. Pixel Waves is conceived to inhabit these spaces not as an architectural finish, but as a distinct artistic presence — a work capable of engaging with its surroundings while retaining its own identity.
